ONE GOAL: ZERO HUNGER

Have you ever gone to bed hungry? For fifty million Americans, including 17 million children, it is a common occurrence. Approximately one in seven households are “food insecure”, meaning they do not know where their next meal will come from. They rely on local aid programs to get by.

Other statistics regarding the hungry that may surprise you (from the Hunger in America National Report 2014) :

  • 29% are younger than 18
  • 40.8% have pursued degrees beyond high school
  • 20.3% have a household member who has served in the military
  • 34.3% are unemployed because they are disabled or retired
  • 54.8% receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits
  • 86.3% exhaust their monthly benefit within 3 weeks

No Perfect People Inc, in partnership with local businesses and nonprofits across South Florida is attempting to meet the need. Its Feed the City campaign feeds thousands of people in Broward county. “In our bountiful country, hunger is unacceptable, and our goal is that all our members of our community have access to a healthy diet”, says Nancy Lawrence of NPPI.

By donating food, money, or your time, you can make a difference. Go to www.nppi.org for more details. Together we can achieve the goal of “zero” hunger!!!
