flow rate on this valve is listed at 80 liters per minute -- is that enough for press or die casting work, or is it more suited to lighter duty setups?

Eighty liters per minute puts it well within range for press and die casting applications. Vickers actually lists both of those as intended uses for this valve, along with foundry work, machine tools, and a few others. It's a solid mid-range flow capacity that fits a lot of demanding industrial environments without being overkill for the application.
