flow rate on this thing listed as 95 litres per minute -- is that enough for press or die casting work, or would you need something bigger for heavy duty cycles?

For most press and die casting setups, 95 litres per minute is a solid working capacity. The DG4S4W series was built with exactly those kinds of applications in mind, along with foundry equipment and primary metal processing, so it's not being stretched into territory it wasn't meant for. Whether that flow ceiling fits your specific circuit depends on your system demands, but the valve isn't underpowered for industrial press or casting use by any stretch.

Can this handle gettin' splashed with saltwater on a regular basis, or is it more for shop use?

Buna-N seals provide good fluid compatibility, which means it should hold up reasonably well in a marine environment where it might get splashed. But it's primarily designed for industrial hydraulic systems, so keep an eye on it for any signs of corrosion.

trying to swap out a worn directional valve, is this DG4S4W 012A B 60 LH the kind that bolts right onto a standard mounting surface?
