flow rate on this unit is listed at 454 liters per minute -- that enough for a high-demand circuit or is that more of a mid-range valve?

That's a solid flow capacity for pressure relief and regulating applications that see heavy demand. If your circuit is pushing close to or beyond that ceiling, you'd want to size up, but for the majority of high-flow systems this handles the load without issue.
