pump's made of cast iron and got buna-N seals -- would that hold up running hydraulic fluid in a wood processing line that sees a fair bit of heat and debris?

Cast iron construction holds up well in demanding industrial environments, and Buna-N seals are a solid general-purpose choice for standard hydraulic fluid applications. Wood processing lines are actually one of the listed applications for this pump, so it's a good fit from a use-case standpoint. Just make sure your fluid is compatible with Buna-N, since that seal material can have issues with certain synthetic or phosphate-ester based fluids.
