flow rate on this thing is listed at 227 litres per minute -- that enough for most standard industrial hydraulic setups or is it pushing the upper end?

For the majority of industrial hydraulic circuits, 227 litres per minute puts this valve well within a comfortable working range. It's not a limiting factor in most shop floor or mobile equipment applications. Where you'd want to pay closer attention is if your system runs sustained peak demands close to or above that number, since the valve is rated to that ceiling, not beyond it.
