We run this type of valve in a few different setups around the shop, everything from press work to test rigs. Does this one actually cover that kind of range or is it more specialized toward one thing?

For what you're describing, the KDG4V 3 2C28S M U covers a pretty wide spread. It's listed for machine tools, press applications, test equipment, die casting, and primary metal processing among others. So moving it between a press line and a test rig setup isn't a stretch at all for this valve.
