flow rate on this one -- is 5 liters per minute the max it'll push through, or is that just a baseline figure?

Five liters per minute is the rated flow for this valve. It's a direct-acting proportional valve, so flow capacity is relatively modest by design. If your application needs higher throughput, you'd be looking at a different valve class altogether. For press work, machine tool circuits, or test equipment where precise, controlled flow at lower volumes is the priority, 5 LPM is right in the wheelhouse this valve was built for.

got a Vickers KCG-3 valve on a machine, is this one the same deal or is it a different style?

Vickers KCG-3 10 Design proportional valves are direct-acting proportional valves, and this part is the “without OBE” version. It’s in the IV Proportional Valves family and is commonly used on equipment like machine tools, presses, and test and simulation rigs.
