what's the max flow this valve handles before it starts to have trouble keeping up?

Rated at 227 liters per minute, so it's got solid capacity for most hydraulic circuit applications where you need adjustable pressure relief. As long as your system stays within that flow range, it should hold up fine doing its job of limiting pressure to whatever maximum you've set it to.
