The Vickers DG5V-8-H-2A-T-M-U-H-10 directional control valve is designed for a broad range of applications, including die casting and foundry, machine tool, marine/offshore, press, primary metal, paper, test equipment and simulation, and turbine control (wind, steam, and water).

flow rate on this unit is listed at 700 litres per minute -- is that enough to handle a high-demand press application or would it be cutting it close?

For press applications, 700 litres per minute is a solid figure and well within the range this valve was built to handle. Press work is actually one of the listed application types for this model, so it's not a stretch to use it there. Whether it's enough for your specific system depends on your circuit demands, but the flow capacity itself isn't a limiting factor for typical press setups.
