runs on 12 volt DC, will it hook straight into a machine that's got an AC supply line feeding the valve bank, or do I need to add a rectifier somewhere in there?

Built-in rectification handles that conversion internally, so no external rectifier is needed. You can wire it directly into an AC supply circuit and the coil sorts out the rest on its own. That's one less component to source and one less thing to troubleshoot down the road.
