What kind of applications does this valve work for? I'm thinking about using it in a machine tool setup.

flow rate on this thing says 700 liters per minute -- is that enough for a high-volume press or die casting setup, or is it really more suited for lighter duty work?

For high-volume press and die casting applications, 700 liters per minute is genuinely substantial. That kind of flow capacity puts it well into the range needed for demanding industrial cycles, which is exactly the environment this valve was built around.
