DANFOSS / EATON-XLS Series, Spool Valve

Description & Features

Designed for demanding mobile equipment applications, the Danfoss / Eaton XLS Series, Spool Valve is a low-speed Geroler motor built under the Char-Lynn brand lineage. Its cast iron construction supports a torque rating of 216 Nm, with a flow rate of up to 57 litres per minute, making it well suited for aerial work platforms and turf care equipment where consistent performance under load is required.

The XLS Series uses an efficient disc valve mechanism that maintains consistent shaft speed, while the spool valve configuration delivers higher torque at low speeds, a practical advantage in applications requiring precise, controlled movement. The Xcel sub-brand designation reflects a feature-rich design intent at a competitive position in the Danfoss / Eaton hydraulic motor range.

Question by: Rhonda M on Oct 29, 2025, 8:58 AM
Got an aerial work platform that needs a motor swap and this part number keeps coming up, is the spool valve setup gonna give me enough torque for that kind of application?
Answer by: Customer Support on Oct 30, 2025, 1:18 PM
Aerial work platforms are actually one of the specific applications this motor was built for. The spool valve configuration is what sets it apart from standard disc valve designs, it produces higher torque at low shaft speeds, which is exactly what you want when you're lifting or extending a platform under load. At 216 Nm of torque and a flow rate up to 57 litres per minute, it's got enough muscle for that kind of controlled, precise movement without needing to run the system hard.
