CHAR-LYNN M0TOR

Description & Features

Designed for demanding mobile equipment applications, the Char-Lynn Motor is a cast iron, low-speed Geroler unit from the Danfoss/Eaton 4000 Series. It delivers a torque rating of 485 Nm and supports flow rates up to 95 litres per minute, making it well suited for mowing, snow removal, spraying, trenching, and wood products equipment.

The disc Geroler design is noted for producing the lowest pressure drop in its class, contributing to measurable energy efficiency across typical duty cycles. Available in standard, wheel, or bearingless configurations, this model is the bearingless variant, offering flexibility in shaft and mounting arrangements where external bearing support is provided by the machine structure.

Question by: Chad B on Jul 30, 2025, 11:30 AM
got a trencher that needs a new drive motor and I keep seein this one pop up, is the 4000 series actually built for that kind of work or is it more of a light duty unit?
Answer by: Customer Support on Aug 1, 2025, 6:12 AM
Trenching is one of the listed applications for this motor, so it's not a stretch at all. The 4000 Series is a cast iron Geroler unit rated at 485 Nm of torque and handles flow up to 95 litres per minute. That combination is squarely aimed at mobile equipment doing real work, not just light-duty stuff. The low-speed Geroler design also keeps pressure drop lower than comparable motors in its class, which helps when you're running equipment hard across a full shift.

Reckon this Char-Lynn motor would hold up okay on a wood splitter?
Answer by: Customer Support on Mar 5, 2026, 6:52 AM
Application-wise, it's plenty suitable for wood product equipment, so it should do the trick. Torque rating's at 485 Nm and it can handle up to 95 litres per minute flow rate.
