pump says it's got an adjustable max displacement stop on it, what's that actually mean for how it runs day to day?

That feature lets you physically set a hard limit on how far the pump strokes, which puts a cap on maximum flow output without having to rely solely on control signals. In practice, it gives you a mechanical backstop so the system can't accidentally demand more flow than your circuit is sized for. Useful in metal forming or injection molding setups where you want repeatable output limits without depending entirely on downstream controls to keep things in check.
