fitting's got Dura-Kote plating on it -- does that actually hold up in wet or outdoor conditions, or is that more of a light-duty coating?

Carbon steel fittings without surface protection tend to rust out pretty fast when moisture gets involved. The Dura-Kote plating on this one is specifically there to fight corrosion, and it's built to extend the life of the whole hose assembly, not just the fitting itself. For general purpose low and medium pressure hydraulic setups where exposure is a concern, that coating makes a real difference in how long the assembly holds up over time.
