fitting says it works with H277 or H435 hose when shock hazards are a concern, does that mean it won't hold up on a regular low-pressure line without those hoses?

For standard low and medium pressure hydraulic applications without shock hazards, you're not required to use H277 or H435. Those two hose types are called out specifically for situations where shock loads or electrical shock risks are present. On a general-purpose line running normal pressure ranges, this fitting handles the job just fine paired with a compatible 0.375 inch ID hose.
