I'm seeing this is for a -24 hose dash size. What does that actually mean in terms of, like, fitting it to something?

That -24 refers to the hose's inside diameter, measured in 1/16-inch increments. So, a -24 hose has an internal diameter of 1.5 inches. This fitting is designed to properly mate with that size hose.
