does the Dura-Kote plating hold up in saltwater or offshore environments, or is that more of a shop-use type coating?

Saltwater and offshore drilling are actually two of the primary environments this adapter was built for. The Dura-Kote plating goes beyond standard corrosion protection, which is why it also sees use in chemical processing and pulp and paper use where the exposure to harsh substances is pretty relentless. Carbon steel on its own wouldn't cut it in those conditions, so the plating is doing real work here, not just cosmetic coverage.

Reckon this adapter would hold up in a chemical plant environment, where things get pretty corrosive?

Dura-Kote plating provides superior corrosion resistance, so it should last a good while even around harsh chemicals. It's also good for pulp and paper industries.

got a straight adapter with SAE 37 on both ends, male to male. are the end sizes 0.5625 and 0.4375 on this one?

It is a straight SAE 37 degree male to SAE 37 degree male adapter with two different end sizes. End size 1 is 0.5625 inches and end size 2 is 0.4375 inches.
