got a 1-1/4 nptf male coming off my line. will this adapt it to a 1-1/4 nptf female port without any goofy thread mismatch

Built as a straight adapter with NPTF on both ends, it goes from 1-1/4 male pipe to 1-1/4 female pipe in the same fitting. That keeps you in the NPTF pipe thread family on both sides, so you are not mixing thread types.
