what material is this back-up ring made out of? trying to figure out if it'll hold up with the fluids we run through our lines.

Teflon is the material used in this back-up ring. It holds up well against a wide range of hydraulic fluids, which is a big part of why it gets spec'd into so many systems. Eaton also has a fluid compatibility document available if you need to cross-check your specific fluid against it.
