got a fitting that's 3/4-14 NPTF on one end and needs to connect to a JIC 37-degree flare line, this the right part for that?

Yeah, that's exactly what this adapter does. One end is a 3/4-14 Male NPTF thread, the other is a 3/4-16 Male JIC SAE 37-degree flare. Both threads meet their respective SAE specs, J476 on the NPTF side and J514 on the JIC side, so you're getting a properly rated transition between those two connection types in a single straight fitting.

got a hose end that’s 3/4-16 JIC, will this adapter screw right onto it and then go into a 3/4-14 pipe port?

On the JIC side (B1) it is a male JIC SAE 37 degree flare with 3/4-16 threads per SAE J514. The other side (B2) is a male NPTF with 3/4-14 threads per SAE J476, so it’s meant to thread into a 3/4-14 NPTF port.
