thread sizes on this thing got me second-guessing myself, the female end is 1-5/16-12 and the male end is 1-5/8-12, that right?

Correct on both counts. The female JIC end measures 1-5/16-12 and the male JIC end is 1-5/8-12, both cut to SAE 37-degree flare geometry and built to SAE J514 spec. So you're stepping up from the smaller female side to the larger male side, which is the standard reducer orientation for dropping down a line size in a hydraulic circuit.
