Question by: Bonnie S on Nov 21, 2025, 3:27 PM
got a hose end with a 7/8-14 JIC flare, will this elbow screw right onto it and then give me a 1/2-14 pipe thread on the other side?
Answer by: Customer Support on Nov 23, 2025, 6:47 AM
On the JIC side, you are looking for a male JIC SAE 37 degree flare in 7/8-14 (SAE J514). The other end is a male NPTF 1/2-14 pipe thread (SAE J476), so it is meant to thread into a matching female NPTF port or fitting.

What kinda pressure can this elbow handle on the regular?
Answer by: Customer Support on Jan 19, 2026, 8:21 AM
This forged steel elbow is rated for a maximum dynamic pressure of 5,000 psi, so it should hold up well in demanding hydraulic systems.
Question by: Kurt M on Feb 9, 2026, 3:03 PM
Does this elbow handle 5,000 psi continuous, or is that a peak rating? Running it on a hydraulic press that don't let up much.
Answer by: Customer Support on Feb 11, 2026, 6:32 AM
5,000 psi is the maximum dynamic pressure rating for this fitting, meaning it's built to handle that load under active, pressurized conditions rather than just static situations. For a press that stays under load most of the time, that rating covers you well as long as your system stays at or below that threshold.
