This Eaton Aeroquip power steering hose is constructed with a 2-ply braid reinforcement and a synthetic rubber tube covered with a perforated chloroprene rubber. The cover is highly abrasion resistant.

Designed for automotive power steering applications, this conductive -6 dash size hose offers proven reliability with high temperature resistance and compatibility with many fuel options. Minimum bend radius is 4 inches, and the hose is designed for a minimum working temperature of -40 degrees.

what's the cover made of on this power steering hose, and will it hold up to rubbing against brackets and other stuff under the hood?

Chloroprene rubber is the cover material, and it's built with abrasion resistance as a real priority. Under-hood routing often means contact with brackets, clamps, and other lines, so that perforated chloroprene cover is meant to take that kind of wear without breaking down quickly. The 2-ply polyester braid reinforcement underneath adds to the overall durability, so it's not just the outer layer doing the work.
