pump says it's field reversible, what does that actually mean for how I mount it up?

Rotation direction can be swapped without sending the pump back or swapping out parts. So if your hydraulic circuit runs clockwise on one machine and counterclockwise on another, you can set it up either way right there in the shop. That kind of flexibility saves a lot of headache when you're fitting it into an existing system or repurposing equipment.
