got a lift truck that runs fans and steering off the same circuit, does this pump handle that kind of split duty or is it better suited for one job at a time?

Fan drive and steering are both listed application types for this pump, so running auxiliary and steering work off the same machine isn't outside what it was built for. It's a fixed displacement external gear pump, meaning output stays consistent regardless of load fluctuation, which helps when you've got more than one circuit pulling from it.
