Danfoss / Eaton Cessna Gear Pump

Description & Features

Engineered for fixed-displacement external gear applications, the Danfoss / Eaton Cessna Gear Pump is a field-reversible unit suited to a broad range of mobile and industrial hydraulic circuits. Manufactured under the Eaton Char-Lynn brand, now operating as Danfoss Power Solutions, it carries the design integrity of the Series 26 product line.

Reduced noise and vibration characteristics make this pump a practical choice for operator-sensitive environments, while improved volumetric and mechanical efficiency supports reliable performance across demanding duty cycles. Field-reversible pump direction adds installation flexibility without requiring additional components. Typical applications include tractors and harvesters, machine tools, steering circuits, compactors, sweepers, rotary and reel mowers, lift trucks, fan drive systems, and auxiliary work circuits. The unit is rated for a minimum working temperature of -20°C, supporting year-round use in colder climates.

got a steering circuit on a compact tractor, is this the kind of pump folks use for that?
Answer by: Customer Support on Mar 25, 2025, 3:07 PM
Common uses for the Series 26 external gear pump include steering circuits, along with tractors and harvesters, lift trucks, and other mobile equipment where a fixed displacement gear pump fits the job.

pump says it's field reversible - what does that actually mean for someone setting it up in the field?
Answer by: Customer Support on May 1, 2025, 9:04 PM
Rotation direction on this pump can be switched without sending it back for rework or swapping it out entirely. If the circuit you're hydraulic connections runs the drive shaft in the opposite direction from what you expected, you can reconfigure the pump on the spot to match. That kind of flexibility saves real time when you're fitting it into an existing setup and the rotation doesn't line up right away.
