pump direction being field reversible, does that mean I can swap the rotation without cracking it open or sending it back somewhere?

reversible right there in the field. You don't need to disassemble the unit or return it for reconfiguration. That's a real time saver when you're setting up a machine and realize the rotation needs to go the other way. Just follow the adjustment procedure on your end and you're good to go.
