pump says field reversible direction -- does that mean I can swap which way it turns without pulling it off the machine or does it need to come apart first?

Field reversible means you can change the rotation direction without a full teardown or removing it from the machine. It's set up to be reconfigured on the job, which saves a good bit of time when you're working with a system that needs the flow going a different way than the default setup.
