This Aeroquip Hansen ST Series socket is designed for quick connect and disconnect applications, eliminating the need for special tools. The female half coupling is constructed from brass with Buna-N seals, offering compatibility with a range of fluids.

Applications include fluid transfer, chemical processing, food and beverage, injection molding, marine, medical, pressure washing, and steam cleaning. This ball lock internal connection type socket features a 1/4 inch port size and a 5.6 gallons per minute flow rate. It exceeds ISO 16028 operating pressures and operates in temperatures as low as -40 degrees Fahrenheit.

does this socket hook up to a standard 1/4 inch NPTF port, or do I need some kind of adapter to make it fit?

No adapter needed for a 1/4 inch NPTF port. The male end on this socket is 1/4 inch NPTF, so it threads directly into a matching female port without any extra hardware involved.
