does this coupling hook up without any special tools, or do i need something to get it connected?

No tools required for connecting or disconnecting. The push-to-connect design on the socket end lets you mate and release it by hand. That's one of the main reasons this fitting gets used in construction and maintenance work where downtime for tooling just isn't practical.

got a Hansen 210/310 setup already, is this the right socket half to swap in?

For replacement fit, this is a Hansen female half quick disconnect socket in the 210/310 series. It has a push to connect end on one side and a 3/8 inch NPTF port on the other, with a pin lock safety mechanism and a 2 way valve.
