got a machine set up for counterclockwise rotation, is this pump the right hand or left hand one?

pump's rated for 3000 PSI max -- does that hold up running continuous or is that more of a peak number?

At 3000 PSI, you're looking at the maximum rated pressure for this pump. That figure represents the ceiling, not a sustained target. Running right at the top of the pressure range for extended periods puts more wear on internal components than operating at moderate working pressures. For applications that spend most of their time under load, keeping your system pressure comfortably below that maximum will get you better service life out of the unit.
