what kind of seal material does this pump use, and is cast iron the whole body or just part of it?

Buna-N is the seal material throughout, and yes, the pump body itself is cast iron construction. Both of those together make it hold up well in demanding hydraulic setups where heat and pressure are part of the daily routine.
