Cast iron construction on something like this, does that hold up pretty well in a shop runnin continuous hydraulic cycles or is it better suited for lighter duty setups?

Cast iron handles the heat and pressure cycles that come with regular industrial use better than a lot of other materials out there. That said, this pump is listed for power steering systems and small industrial units including small presses, so it fits well in moderate-duty shop environments rather than heavy continuous industrial production lines. For what its built for, the cast iron body gives it solid longevity without needing a lot of attention between service intervals.
