fitting's got a -24 hose dash size, does that mean it'll only work with 4-wire spiral hose, or can it mate up with other hose types too?

The -24 dash size tells you the bore dimension, but the TTC designation is specifically part of a system-engineered design built around 4-wire spiral hose assemblies. The whole point of the TTC configuration is that the fitting and hose work together as a matched system to extend assembly life and keep downtime low. Mixing it with other hose constructions outside that system would step outside what this fitting is built to do.
