Got a line running M45 X 2.0 female DIN on one end and need to step it down to a M36 X 2.0 male DIN connection. this the right part for that?

That's what this reducer is built for. Side 1 is a female DIN tube connection at M45 X 2.0 and Side 2 is a male DIN tube connection at M36 X 2.0, so it bridges those two sizes in a straight configuration.
