So, this elbow has a 3/4-inch male thread on one end and a 1-inch female on the other? Just want to make sure I'm reading it right.

That's correct. The 3/4-14 male NPTF thread and 1-11-1/2 female NPTF thread allow you to connect different sized lines with a single fitting.
