Question by: Gary L on Jan 2, 2026, 6:00 AM
keep it simple for me, what’s a y strainer do in a hydraulic setup
Answer by: Customer Support on Jan 4, 2026, 6:40 AM
A Y strainer is a mechanical filter that catches debris in the line so it does not get into downstream components. The Y-shaped body helps trap that material while keeping the system protected and running cleaner.
Question by: Gary C on Feb 15, 2026, 7:55 PM
what exactly does the Y strainer do, and why's it shaped like that?
Answer by: Customer Support on Feb 16, 2026, 9:07 PM
The Y-shaped body routes flow through a mesh or screen element that catches debris before it can reach pumps, valves, or other components downstream. That angled leg gives the strainer its name and also makes it easier to flush or clean out the collected material without pulling the whole unit from the line. Conbraco built this one for industrial use, so the construction is meant to hold up in demanding conditions where a lighter-duty strainer might not last.
Question by: Randy R on Mar 3, 2026, 4:04 PM
How difficult is it to keep one of these Conbraco Y strainers clean? Does it need a lot of maintenance?
Answer by: Customer Support on Mar 4, 2026, 7:06 PM
Maintenance is pretty straightforward since there aren't any fancy parts like adjustable ends or check valves. You just need to clear out any debris that builds up in the strainer from time to time.
