STAUFF FI-REDSD-12/08S-B-W3-DKO-MS

Description & Features

Designed for size transitions in high-pressure hydraulic circuits, the Stauff FI-REDSD-12/08S-B-W3-DKO-MS is a metric reducer fitting built to DKO (metric bite-type) connection standards. The 12mm-to-8mm reduction makes it suitable for applications where different line sizes must be joined within a compact fitting body.

Constructed from brass, this fitting offers reliable corrosion resistance in environments where steel alternatives may be less appropriate. The DKO bite-type interface provides a secure, leak-resistant seal without the need for additional sealing compounds. Part of Stauff's FI series, the W3 classification and B-type body configuration align with established Stauff fitting conventions, making it straightforward to specify within existing Stauff-based hydraulic assemblies. Typical applications include mobile and industrial hydraulic equipment where controlled line size reduction is required at connection points.

fitting's made of brass -- does that hold up alright in a hydraulic system where there's some moisture or condensation around the lines?
Answer by: Customer Support on Dec 13, 2025, 8:11 PM
Brass actually handles moisture and corrosion better than standard steel fittings in a lot of situations, which is part of why it gets used in environments where steel might rust or degrade over time. For hydraulic lines where condensation or occasional exposure to water is a concern, brass is a reasonable choice. The tradeoff is that brass isn't always appropriate for every high-pressure application, so it's worth confirming your system's pressure demands are within range for the fitting size and connection type before installing.
