runs at 12 volts, so does that mean it pulls about 14.7 watts straight off the system power?

Correct on both counts. The coil runs on 12VDC and draws 14.7 watts. No resistance adjustments, no tuning required once it's wired in. Pretty straightforward hookup for most 12-volt hydraulic control setups.
