got a hose end with a 7/8-14 JIC male, and i need to go into an ORB port. is this the right adapter?

For that hookup, it matches up as a male JIC SAE 37 degree flare on one end with 7/8-14 threads, and a male SAE O-ring boss on the other end with 1-1/16-12 threads. Both ends are called out to SAE J514.

What thread types are on each end of this adapter, and are they both SAE spec?

Both ends meet SAE J514. One end is a male JIC SAE 37-degree flare with a 7/8-14 thread, and the other is a male SAE O-ring boss at 1-1/16-12. So you're getting two different connection types in one straight fitting, which makes it useful when you're bridging a JIC line over to an ORB port.
