thread on the male end is NPTF -- does that mean it'll seal on its own without tape or sealant?

NPTF threads are built to create a dry seal through thread-on-thread mechanical interference, so yes, that's the intent. The thread form is designed to deform slightly as it's tightened, which closes off leak paths without relying on tape or compound. That said, a lot of folks in the field still run a light coat of thread sealant as insurance, especially in higher-vibration setups. got a hose end with a 1-1/16-12 female ORB. will this screw into it and seal up right?

The female side on this adapter is a Female SAE O-Ring Boss thread in 1-1/16-12, built to SAE J514. The other end is a 3/4-14 Male NPTF thread to SAE J476, so it is meant to transition from an ORB port to an NPTF port.
