Got a tight spot in a hydraulic line where I need to change direction, will a #6 male JIC on one end and a #8 female JIC swivel on the other end work for that kind of setup?

Yeah, that's exactly what this fitting is built for. The male end is a 9/16-18 thread with a 37-degree flare, and the female swivel side runs 3/4-16, also 37-degree flare, both meeting SAE J514 spec.
