Constructed from stainless steel, the 04MP-04FJS SS Straight is a straight hydraulic adapter designed for applications where corrosion resistance and connection reliability are essential. One end features a 1/4-18 Male Nptf thread conforming to SAE J476, while the other provides a 7/16-20 Female JIC Swivel with a 37-degree flare seat per SAE J514, making it well suited for transitioning between Nptf pipe and JIC hydraulic line connections.

What's the deal with the swivel end? Does it need extra tightening or anything special when you're hooking it up?

The swivel on the JIC end is there to make connecting your hydraulic lines easier. You shouldn't need to overtighten it; just make sure it's snug according to standard JIC fitting practices, and that the 37-degree flare seats properly.
