What size are those ends on this thing?

This adapter has a #6 MJIC end and a #5 MORB end. It's a 45-degree fitting.

Does this adapter need any thread sealant when you're putting it on, or does it seal up on its own?

No sealant needed on this one. The MJIC and MORB connection types both rely on metal-to-metal seating to get a leak-free seal, so thread tape or paste would actually be unnecessary and could cause problems. Just make sure the seats are clean and the fitting is torqued properly and you should be good to go.
