i’ve got a 1/4-18 female nptf port on one side and need to go to M10x1.0 male on the other. is that what this adapter does

what's the thread setup on this adapter, one end metric and the other standard pipe thread?

That's how it's set up. One end is a 1/4-18 Female NPTF, which follows the ANSI B1.20.3 spec, and the other is a Male Metric M10X1.0 thread built to ISO 9974. So if you're bridging a metric port over to a standard NPT fitting on the other side, this one handles that transition straight out of the box.
