what kind of seal does this pump use, and is cast iron the actual body material or just part of it?

Cast iron is the full construction material for the pump body, and the seals are Buna-N. That combination holds up well in typical industrial hydraulic environments where you've got petroleum-based fluid running through the system. Buna-N is a solid all-around seal choice for standard hydraulic oil applications.
