is this the proportional solenoid for a vickers NG10 valve, or is it something else entirely

Correct part. It's a Vickers-branded proportional solenoid built for NG10 frame valves, supplied under the Eaton Vickers / Danfoss Power Solutions lineup. Sold individually as a spare part, so it's meant as a direct replacement rather than a complete valve assembly.
