Got a half-inch hose I'm trying to connect up to a BSPT-threaded port. This fitting gonna work for that setup?

How tight should I make this fitting when connecting it to the hose? I don't want to overtighten and damage anything.

got a 1/2 inch hose on the bench, will this barb match up without any weird adapters

For hose hookup, the barb end is sized for a 1/2 inch hose, so it is meant to slide into a 1/2 inch hose and clamp down like a standard barb connection.
